Pastor Joysteen Briggs
Biography
The Potter's House Ministries
Lebanon, Tennessee
Joy Briggs is the youngest
of ten children born to Frank and Leola Johnson of New Braunfels, Texas, (a suburb of San Antonio). Joy learned to face the difficult
things in this life early, upon the death of her father, Frank, when she was only two years old.
Seventeen
years of her young adult life were spent in the state of Michigan where her education was completed, and the raising of a hearing
impaired daughter, who then went off to complete her education at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C.
Joy has a varied work history
which involves working in many fields. First, in all areas of Nursing and Emergency Medical Care, many areas of Business Administration,
focusing on both service and product sales. A Real Estate License was earned in the early 1980's, and Joy also enjoyed working in
merchandise sales.
When the Lord called Joy into full time ministry, she resigned her full time job and
took a part time job doing residential house cleaning in the Lebanon area. This allowed much more time to be spent in building the
ministry God had used her to start, The Potter's House Ministries in the inner city of Lebanon Tennessee.
Joy completed a two year course of study at Victory Bible Training Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The Missionary Baptist Church licensed
her into the Ministry of Jesus Christ in 1992, and then ordained her in 1995. She has recently earned a Bachelor's Degree in Church
Ministries. Since 1991 Joy has worked in many areas of service to the needy in the Lebanon community, they include:
The Wilson County Jail Ministry, McFarland Specialty Hospital's Spiritual Services,The founding and full time ministry of The
Potter's House Ministries in 1993 and the establishment of the community services division, IKE Services, Inc. (to include the IKE
Tutoring and Mentoring Program), in 1998. In 2002 Pastor Joy established the PHB line of designer clothing for Christian and Professional
Women, and offered adult training classes in the fast disappearing art of dressmaking.
Pastor Joy currently
serves as full time Pastor of the Potter's House Church, and the CEO of both The Potter's House Ministries, and IKE Services, Inc.
Pastor Joy has established and oversees many other programs in Lebanon's inner city, the IKE Tutoring and Mentoring Program, the Young
Mighty Men of God residential program, crisis counseling programs, Elderly fellowship and recreational programs, annual new shoe and
clothing drives, hot meal programs, youth recreational programs, readiness and placement services, and women's retreats. Pastor Joy
also accepts speaking and teaching engagements as God wills.

others how to find their way out of life's difficult circumstances. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
