In Depth

Mission Statement: To encourage and remediate at-risk children.
The Inner-city Kids Empowerment Program is a full time, after school tutoring program. The program operates during the hours of 2:45 to 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Children are referred to the IKE Tutoring Program by their public school teachers who partner with the IKE team (Staff and Volunteers) assuring the specific needs of the children are met. These teachers also monitor the children's progress and advise the IKE team where help is needed.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution, please designate on your check "for IKE Services", and your contribution will specifically be used for IKE, and nothing else. Send checks to: IKE Services, Inc. ; P.O. Box 3533 ; Lebanon, TN 37087. Examples of use of donations: supplies (books, paper, pencils, copier supplies, etc.), facilities costs (telephone, utilities, etc.), one full-time staff.

In 1998 funding for the IKE Tutoring Program began with funding in the form of a declining grant from the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth. This was for 3 years and only partially covered the cost of running the program. The year 2000/2001 has ended this funding. Contributors are needed to make up for the loss.
